Below is a page from the wonderful book by Charles Cooke, who used to write for the New Yorker.

When I play this exercise, I play the left hand a third higher (with appropriate changes in the accidentals), so I get seventh chords. It’s fun to vary the articulation more ways than Charles Cooke says.
